We have laminated the keelson. That was the first time we ever used epoxy in such quantities. Lets hope that it all went well. The density of the mixture was somewhere between appetizing pancake flour and mayonnaise.  

We have completed the rig for building the boat. It looks solid. Next we will dry fit the keelson oak and see how it all sits together. It will also be our first time to use epoxy.

After a small round at the local hardware stores we think we have the necessary components to start our build. We decided to replace hard-to-find copper nails with stainless-steel screws. They are not marine, but the packaging says “rust free”. … Continue reading →
