She sails!

Say hello to “Kvark” (Quark in english, the particle), she made her maiden voyage today, on the 27th of July 2015. It took for years, but the results are well worth the time. First some pictures. A longer follow-up post will come later:

Thanks very much to all our supporters, especially Raivo, Tehnikaüliõpilaste Selts, our mothers and fathers, and all other good folks!

To be continued..

    Great work guys!

Been following your build for over 3 years now, and its great to finally see Kvark in the water. Very well done – I’m impressed with your determination to see the project through to completion. Its certainly a lot of work, but the end result is well worth it. She is a beauty 🙂

Look forward to reading about your adventures in your new boat, and seeing some photos of the inside accomodation as well. I’ve seen a lot of external pics of Fafnir, but none of the inside of the boat!

Thanks for sharing your expereince with the world – your site is a great resource for other builders and truly inspirational.

    Happy sailing!

    Best regards,
    Paul (UK)

      Hi, Paul!

Thank you for the support and kind words. We will definitely upload more content to the blog as time goes. True adventures are only now starting. We’ll keep her on a lake for the current season to learn her ways and note down rigging improvement ideas. Next year the plan is to take her to sea and try crossing the Baltic sea to Sweden, to visit a few friends in Stockholm. The idea to cross the Atlatic with her is still on the list. But progression towards that goal is with no rush 😉

      Cheers,
      Uku

Thank you Paul for the kind words! Someitmes it was a challenge to keep going, but there was always slow but steady progress thanks to good teamwork and planning. It was well worth the effort to sail on something self-built.

      Best,
      Joosep
