This is our inspiration for making a watertight door for the forward bulkhead, more details to come, including a SolidWorks drawing. Joosep is working on creating a text on hull dynamics and soon we’ll put up a longer video post of the work we did today. That is, scarf jointing, beveling and seats.

Yes, the pointy bow is more aesthetic, but it has been a troublemaker all along. If you do decide on building Fafnir, then think the process trough in detail. We still have not solved all the troubles with our bow. Firstly there are two big bolts sticking out the keelson, which will intervene with the keel building process. We are not sure on how to deal with them yet, but we shall. Then there is the business of adding a metal strip to the very front where the two oak planks join.. and so on, but we’ll keep the blog updated!
