Hello!
Villem recorded some video of Kvark sailing around two buoys, pretty much practicing jibing and tacking.
We are thinking of taking part of a regatta on the last weekend of September. We’ll see!

Hello!
A few days back, we had a freediver, Erki, come sail with us. Or rather, he was dragging along on the lake attached to the sailboat via a long line. We took down all sails at a deeper part of the lake so that Erki could do his freediving routines without peing pulled up by the speeding boat. There, Villem and I got bored and decided to toy around with heeling Kvark. It ended with Villem climbing almost to the top of the mast. We heeled her perhaps 80 degrees portside. The experience is that she is not easily upset and recovers easily. Turtling her could perhaps be acheived by loose cargo on board (a few hundred kilos plus the sailor inside), but not otherwise. Her hull is just that round. Also, we now have a GPS track with speeds marked. A few pictures:
Cheers!
Hello!
I finally got to it. I cut and edited the video material we had of the launch, recorded some voiceover in Estonian, wrote subtitles, rendered it and published it on YouTube. It is now called “Story of a sailboat”. Should say a modest and beginning attempt at a documentary? In any case, better done than not.
Summer weather is slowly retreating from this part of the world. In good therms this means more wind, but also more rain, colder temperatures and shorter days. There is still about a month left for sailing before the yachtclub crane lifts the yachts out. We were asked to join a regatta on the lake. That would be an interesting experience.
A curious note: we did not antifoul the boat and the results can be seen. Not only is the boat green coloured under water, but there is now moss growing on the hull. I did not expect for life to grow so fast.
More to come!
