It is the Chinese year of the dragon. It is going to be hot and fiery (though it is – 25 C outside – this is temporary). As an accompaniment to the elements we will produce some steam. Finished building the kettles, now we’re ahead to the PVC piping. I started a new section on our Details page, check out the bits and pieces of the kettles at Steam boilers and steaming wood. Meanwhile, I also finished the mother of all rectifiers, the 4kW beast I call “Big Bertha”:

- Then we also built a welder out of microwave oven transformers. Here the output is rectified with a 250 A diode bridge.

- I present, Big Bertha, the 4 kW DC rectifier. The design is nothing fancy, just a lot of cast aluminum cooling and some flattened copper pipe.
Joosep is working on the 3D stringer setup, so we’ll soon have the final design of the forward crash bulkhead.

What’s the 60v for?
Hoi! No see keevitustrafo on olnud minu isiklik pikaaegne unelmidee. Sai lõpuks valmis tehtud. Nagu ikka, saab misiganes tööriista mingis olukorras alati rakendada, praktilisus aga ei ole seejuures määratud. Esialgu mõtlesime, et keevitame vööripoolseima kaare knii terasest, puht tehnilistel põhjustel. Pärast natuke mõtlemist osutus, et metallikolaka lisamine ei ole vajalik. 60 V on roostevaba ning alumiiniumi keevitamiseks.
