Getting bent

Firstly I would like to introduce the main posture you need to learn before starting to build a boat. Pictures say a thousand words – at least. So, here is the “bend to cut” position needed very often in our work:

Alas, sometimes we also need to bend the wood we cut. Today we bent and laminated the arch onto which the mast step will be placed.

The arch support for a bulkhead lies awaiting good'ol epoxy, being bent by clamps. Notice also how Joosep still has a bent neck.

Exams are done, back to work (you lazy slobs!)

We’re mostly done with the exam session now and we’ve been in the workshop the previous week a few times. We’ve been working on the bulkheads, epoxying the doublers and strengthening structures to them. Each screw convinces me that screws and plywood don’t mix well, it’s very easy to strip the ones we have with a power drill and we got the best ones in the hardware shop. I’ve added a few pictures of the forward and central bulkheads and their doublers. Stay tuned for more!

Exams

Well, for a month we have not done much. Parts can wait to be epoxied, but our studies can not. Soon we hope to put things into motion again.
